TEMPORARY LICENSURE

North Carolina may issue a one-time only temporary license to endorsement applicants who have submitted an application for permanent licensure. If a temporary license is requested, eligibility will be determined and, if eligible, temporary licensure will be issued within two weeks. A paper temporary license will not be sent. Visit our website to verify all temporary licenses. The temporary license permits the applicant to practice nursing in North Carolina while the application is being processed. The temporary license is valid for six months OR until the application for endorsement is approved, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. If the temporary license expires before the endorsement application has been approved, it CANNOT be renewed or extended.

Individuals awaiting examination results are NOT eligible for a temporary license in this state.
