IMPORTANT NOTICE

Effective January 1, 2007, The North Carolina Board of Nursing will implement a cardless licensure system. Initial licenses issued by endorsement [to include both temporary and permanent] will be electronic. The North Carolina Nursing Practice Act requires Mandatory Employer Verification of Licensure Status at the time of employment.

The Board of Nursing’s electronic database serves as the primary source for licensure information for nurses in North Carolina. Employers are able to access the electronic licensure files to verify licensure status either online atwww.ncbon.com or by using the automated telephone verification system at (919) 881-2272.

The following are four (4) options to help you complete the endorsement process. If you are making your initial request for an application, please select option 1 and carefully read the checklist before proceeding to option 2.
