Review / Approval Process
The Board of Nursing may propose new rules or amendments to existing rules. Proposed changes to Chapter 36 – Board of Nursing are reviewed and approved by the Rules Review Commission. The rule is first published in the NC Register. A public hearing is then held to receive written and oral comments on the proposed rule. Once comments are received and reviewed, the Board of Nursing may make revisions based on the feedback received. The rule is then submitted to the NC Rules Review Commission (RRC) for final approval. If approved by RRC, the rule takes effect on the listed effective date.
