  1. What if the username and password that I entered does not match any records?

    Have you registered on the Nurse Gateway previously? If not, click on 'Enroll Now' to register. If you have previously registered on the Nurse Gateway, please attempt to retrieve your username and reset your password.

  2. What if I can't remember my username?

    If you cannot remember your username, you can use the 'Forgot Username?' function to retrieve it. You will be prompted to key in your name, date of birth, mother's maiden name and social security number. If there is a positive match, an email containing your username will be sent to the address on record for your Nurse Gateway profile. If there is not a positive match, please contact NCBON at help@ncbon.com.

    Note: Your secure password is NOT maintained by the NC Board of Nursing. You can use your username to reset your password by using the 'Forgot Password?' function. You will be prompted to key in your username, first and last name as well as your date of birth and social security number.

  3. What if I can't remember my password?

    You can use your username to reset your password by using the 'Forgot Password?' function. You will be prompted to key in your username, first and last name as well as your date of birth and social security number.

  4. I am attempting to reset my password but it states that an account has not been created with the credentials specified?

    An account may not exist with your credentials. Exit the password reset page by clicking 'Cancel' and then click on 'Enroll Now!' to register. If you've already registered, please attempt to retrieve your correct username before resetting your password.

  5. I am attempting to register but it states that the information we have on record does not match?

    Please be sure to check that your date of birth and/or social security number are correct. For assistance, contact help@ncbon.com.

  6. How many characters should my username and password contain? Can I use special characters?

    Your username must contain at least 3 characters and your password must contain at least 6 characters. Special characters are not permitted within the username. Special characters are permitted within the password. Note: A space is a special character.

  7. How do I renew or request retired / inactive status for my license?

    To renew your license or request retired / inactive status, log in to your Nurse Gateway profile and then click on the blue tile that says 'EXPIRING SOON!' which indicates your license under the 'Licenses/Approval to Practice/Certifications' tab. Select Renewal / Reinstatement, Request Inactive Status or Request Retired Status.

  8. How do I access an application?

    To access an application, log in to your Nurse Gateway profile and then hover over 'Licenses/Certificates' and a drop-down list of available applications will appear. Note: In order to access the LiveScan application, hover over 'Background Checks' and it will be available in the drop-down list.

  9. How do I check the status of my application?

    To check the status of your application, log in to your Nurse Gateway profile and then click on the blue tile that says '(Pending)' which indicates your license under the 'Licenses/Approval to Practice/Certifications'/'Criminal Background Checks' tabs. To check the status of your pending application, click on the 'Application Status' tab.

  10. How do I request a name / address change?

    To request a name and/or address change, log in to your Nurse Gateway profile and then hover over 'My Profile'; a drop-down list containing each application will appear.

    *Examples of a supporting legal document include social security card, court record, birth certificate, marriage license, driver's license, voter registration, federal income tax return, etc. Do not submit the original document.

    Allow 72 hours upon receipt in our office for the name change to be processed in our system.

  11. How do I update my email address?

    To update your email address, log in to your Nurse Gateway profile and then hover over 'My Profile' and a drop-down list containing the profile edit application will appear. Click on 'Request Profile Change' to change your email address.
