Board Meetings
Board meetings are held each year in January, May, and September, during which there is an Open Comment Period. Board meetings are open to the public and individuals are encouraged to attend. Due to the limited space and seating for meetings, the Board is pleased to offer live streaming of Board meetings. Live streaming allows large groups to observe the meeting from any location with an internet connection.

Open Comment Period
The purpose of the Open Comment Period is to provide members of the nursing community with an opportunity to bring issues of concern to the Board. Individuals are encouraged to share their concerns, offer views, and present questions regarding issues that impact nursing and nursing regulation.
How to speak during the Open Comment Period
This is an opportunity for an open exchange of ideas; there is no pre-established agenda, but we do ask that anyone wishing to speak at the Open Comment Period notify the Board of Nursing. Educators/students from schools of nursing, representatives from associations/councils, nursing executives from various settings, as well as members of the public are invited to attend. Written comments must be submitted on the day of the Open Comment Period. Individuals will have five (5) minutes to address the Board.

Administrative Hearings & Hearing Committees
Administrative Hearing
The Board conducts Administrative Hearings in which the majority of the Board members are present and are held approximately five times a year. Evidence in contested cases is presented for the Board’s determination and Final Order. Recommended decisions from the Hearing Committee are also presented to the Board for a vote on the final action.

Hearing Committee
The purpose of the Hearing Committee is to receive evidence in contested cases and present a recommended decision, which includes Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law, to the Board for a vote on the final action.
