The Board’s strategic plan supports the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization. The components of quality improvement, effective communication and utilization of relevant technology are integral to the plan and inherently woven into each strategic initiative.

To continue forward progress, our strategic plan is updated every 4-years.

1. Enhance public protection through collaborative leadership.
  • Ensure fair, efficient, and effective regulatory processes
  • Promote legislative change that advances public protection through exemplary nursing care.
  • Provide adequate resources to fund programs, services, and operations through maintaining a strong financial position
  • Increase the visibility and impact of the organization.
2. Advance best practices in nursing regulation
  • Conduct, utilize, and disseminate research that expands evidence for regulation
  • Serve as a catalyst for the delivery of innovations in education and practice
  • Ensure current and evolving roles and responsibilities of nursing align with regulation
  • Identify and address issues in nursing regarding the opioid epidemic, substance use disorders, and mental health
3. Cultivate an organization that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Promote a diverse organizational environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and outstanding leadership
  • Strengthen collaborative relationships with diverse external stakeholders
  • Foster opportunities that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion
4. Foster mobility of licensed nurses and facilitate access to safe nursing care
  • Enactment of the APRN compact and consensus model
  • Facilitate the safe and effective practice of nurses using telehealth and emerging technologies
  • Support efforts of ongoing nursing workforce trends
